Your tasks
Your tasks:
- You align and select crash scenarios with relevant stakeholders, e.g., using statistical methods
- You set passive safety goals
- You design and optimize passive safety concepts for the whole vehicle
- You ensure that all passive safety concepts and systems fulfill and comply with state of the art as well as relevant laws, standards, and regulations
- You collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate passive safety concepts and systems into the vehicle’s architecture and (overall) design
- You align and define targets, specifications, and improvements for components and systems contributing to passive safety, in cooperation with responsible owners
- You support responsible owners, e.g., in design or failure analysis topics
- You initiate and supervise whole vehicle crash simulations, lead the analysis together with domain experts, and derive adequate passive safety measures and their specifications
- You specify and align passive safety tests (e.g., crash tests) in cooperation with requirements engineering and whole vehicle testing
- You evaluate test results to verify implementation and effectiveness of defined measures and concepts and derive improvement strategies together with adequate experts if needed
- You contribute to Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential risks caused by failures of passive safety systems and support mitigation activities
- You initiate and coordinate discussions about arising target conflicts concerning passive safety objectives, e.g., weight, costs, or performance targets
- You contribute to the product safety release recommendation by assessing the passive safety status for the whole vehicle and define user restrictions if deviations exist, especially during prototype phases
